About the position

The newly created position of Email Marketing Manager at Stanford Health Care (SHC) will lead the definition, strategy, and execution of email marketing programs in collaboration with key stakeholders and marketing colleagues. This critical role encompasses vendor management and oversight responsibilities, with accountability for driving the strategic utilization of email and marketing automation platforms based on organizational goals. The email marketing professional will manage email campaigns, support events, and oversee email contact management, which includes lead capture, contact preference management, segmentation, and targeting. This role is essential in engaging with key organizational stakeholders and leveraging data to enhance the delivery of the right message to the right audience at the right time. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in Marketo and have experience leading both B2C and B2B marketing within a healthcare system or academic medical center. This includes engaging prospective patients, existing patients, and providers with timely and relevant messaging through appropriate channels. The Email Marketing Manager will increase email send volume and related interactions through stakeholder engagement, list building, journey mapping, and establishing triggers based on segmentation and available engagement signals. They will support strategies and campaigns aimed at communicating with prospective patients, referring physicians, and other audiences, thereby driving preference for Stanford Health Care physicians and clinics. In this role, the manager will establish and evolve marketing email programs by leveraging data, creating product roadmaps, and collaborating with stakeholders on project briefs. Building and maintaining strong client relationships with key stakeholders and departments throughout the organization is crucial, as is acting as the primary point of contact for email marketing initiatives. The manager will regularly provide updates to key internal and external stakeholders regarding marketing activities, metrics, and outcomes, and will collaborate with IT colleagues and vendor partners to enhance email templates, journeys, and platform feature utilization. Additionally, they will consult on portfolio management strategy for proposed programs or improvement initiatives, including goals, specific actions, timelines, metrics, and performance tracking.

Responsibilities

  • Support strategies and campaigns to communicate with prospective patients and referring physicians.
  • Establish and evolve marketing email programs by leveraging data and creating product roadmaps.

  • Regularly provide updates to stakeholders regarding marketing activities, metrics, and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with IT colleagues and vendor partners to enhance email templates and platform features.
  • Consult on portfolio management strategy for proposed programs or improvement initiatives.
  • Extract relevant data for business planning and analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Five (5) plus years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
  • Three (3) plus years of email marketing campaign management, preferably using Marketo.
  • Experience in a healthcare system or academic medical center is preferred.
  • Proven experience in managing multi-step campaigns, such as drip campaigns or other triggered communications.
  • Experience managing employees or external vendor teams in highly matrixed organizations.
  • Experience leading email marketing strategy and designing templates, campaigns, and journeys.
  • Experience analyzing user behavior and using it to segment contacts and target via email.
