About the position

The Marketing Specialist at Case Western Reserve University plays a crucial role in advancing the university's mission by effectively communicating the diverse range of graduate and professional programs offered. This position is centered around creating compelling, visually appealing, and user-friendly email communications that adhere to the university's brand standards. The Marketing Specialist will leverage industry-leading practices in email design and content to engage prospective graduate students and support the university's graduate marketing efforts. In this role, the Marketing Specialist will collaborate with various teams across the university, particularly the graduate and professional recruitment teams, to understand their specific audiences and needs. Utilizing tools such as HTML, liquid markup, and querying, the specialist will build email and SMS communications in Slate, ensuring that these communications are not only effective but also aligned with the university's goals. Additionally, the specialist will utilize Salesforce Marketing Cloud to create and send emails for other departments, thereby enhancing internal and external communication efforts. The position also involves coordinating email schedules to optimize timing based on data insights, managing project timelines through project-management software, and presenting edited copy and design drafts to clients. The Marketing Specialist will be responsible for adapting email content based on analytics and user feedback, as well as assisting in the creation of ongoing campaigns for subject line and format testing. Furthermore, the specialist will support the graduate enrollment marketing team in developing email drip campaigns that facilitate various recruitment efforts, from prospecting to post-admission communication.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively as part of a cross-functional team to plan and create email content.
  • Build email and SMS communications in Slate using HTML, liquid markup, and querying to achieve recruitment goals.
  • Utilize Salesforce Marketing Cloud to build and send emails for various departments to enhance communication efforts.
  • Coordinate email schedules for graduate/professional recruitment emails to optimize timing and ensure recipient list accuracy.
  • Present edited copy and draft designs to clients, articulating the rationale for editing and design choices.
  • Adjust and adapt emails based on analytics, user feedback, and user experience data.
  • Assist in creating and administering ongoing campaigns for subject line testing, format testing, and message testing.
  • Manage photo library in Slate and develop best practices documentation for internal training.
  • Support the graduate enrollment marketing team in creating/revising email drip campaigns for recruitment efforts.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in email marketing and design, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of HTML and liquid markup for email content creation.
  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or similar email marketing platforms.
  • Ability to analyze data and adapt strategies based on user feedback and analytics.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present ideas clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience with project management software.
