About the position

KPMG is currently seeking an Embark Scholar Intern for our Embark Scholars program, which is designed to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to the professional services industry. As an intern, you will rotate through our audit, tax, and advisory businesses, gaining valuable insights into how we serve our clients and the various career paths available in professional services. This internship offers a spectrum of assignments across different practices, allowing you to work as part of engagement teams to support the use of audit methodology, Data and Analytics (D&A), and tax and advisory-related tasks, including data extractions and data analysis. In this role, you will assist engagement teams in creating work paper files, preparing client reports and deliverables, and organizing business development activities. You will also help identify the scope of engagement capabilities, review client materials, provide insights gained, and propose how analysis can be leveraged to execute projects effectively. Leveraging a range of technologies and analytics tools will be a key part of your responsibilities, contributing to the integrity and transparency of financial information. The Embark Internship is open to all eligible students, particularly those who identify as members of traditionally underrepresented racial and ethnic minority groups within the professional services industry. Responsibilities

  • Rotate through audit, tax, and advisory businesses to learn and understand client service.
  • Provide a spectrum of assignments across practices and support engagement teams.
  • Assist with data extractions and data analysis related to audit methodology and D&A.
  • Create work paper files and prepare client reports and deliverables.
  • Organize business development activities and assist with identifying engagement capabilities.
  • Review client materials and provide insights to leverage analysis for execution.
  • Leverage a range of technologies and analytics tools to support engagement teams.
  • Contribute to the integrity and transparency of financial information.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or community college pursuing a Bachelor or Master of Accountancy, Taxation, or related degree.
  • Intention to obtain a CPA is preferred for accounting majors.
  • Candidates must have completed at least 1 semester of coursework at the time of application.
  • Upon completion of the internship, candidates must have at least 3 additional semesters to complete their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements.
  • Preferred GPA of 3.00 or above.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Excellent communication, task, time management, and leadership skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior participation in KPMG leadership programs or other organizations' leadership programs is preferred.
