About the position

The Embedded Audio DSP Firmware Engineer will play a crucial role in developing and optimizing audio features for Apple's innovative products. This position focuses on creating low-power, high-compute audio DSP features that enhance user experiences across various devices, including iPhones, iPads, and AirPods. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate these features into real-time audio subsystems, ensuring high fidelity and performance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and optimize signal processing algorithms on programmable hardware.
• Write unit tests and integration tests for comprehensive software validation.
• Collaborate with acoustics experts, algorithm engineers, DSP software engineers, audio driver developers, and hardware engineers to integrate audio features.
• Solve audio fidelity and performance issues during the development process.

Requirements

• Deep understanding of DSP fundamentals, preferably in audio (speech enhancement, noise cancellation/reduction, media processing, sample rate conversion).
• Excellent C/C++ coding skills.
• Experience realizing audio/DSP/real-time features and applications.
• Experience with development and debugging of audio issues on hardware platforms.
• Ability to problem-solve independently and collaborate effectively with people from various disciplines.
• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

• Excellent Python skills.
• Experience with audio test and measurement equipment and methodologies.
