About the position

The Embedded Behavioral Health Specialist at JPS Health Network is responsible for providing mental health services and care coordination within a primary care setting. This role focuses on addressing the behavioral health needs of patients through clinical assessments, therapeutic engagement, and collaboration with primary care providers and psychiatrists. The specialist will utilize their expertise to promote improvements in both behavioral and physical health conditions, ensuring patients receive the necessary support and resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quick and accurate clinical assessments of mental health and substance abuse conditions.
  • Provides brief, solution-focused therapeutic engagement with patients as needed.
  • Assists in detecting and addressing behavioral health needs within the primary care setting.
  • Coordinates and facilitates communication between primary care physician and psychiatrist when needed.
  • Utilizes behavioral health expertise to promote change to improve behavioral and physical health conditions.
  • Provides referral and community resource information.
  • Assists with linkage to more intense psychiatric care as appropriate.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling.
  • 2 plus years of clinical experience.
  • 1 plus year of experience using Microsoft Professional Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Licensure as an LMSW, LCSW, or LPC.
  • Certification in Non-Aggressive Crisis Management; must be obtained while in orientation and maintained throughout employment.
  • BCLS certification required but may be obtained subsequent to hire.
