About the position

We are looking for a skilled and motivated engineer that will be able to define and develop software platforms for Home and Audio products of the future. The ideal candidate will have broad knowledge in embedded technologies and environments to coincide with firmware and OS capabilities. The Sr. Embedded Firmware Engineer will be individually responsible for all things firmware related. This includes architecting, designing, developing, and maintaining hardware and software systems for Apple home and audio products. You will identify and integrate technologies vital to solve complex problems to build out amazing new product features. The role requires a genuine passion for innovation and product development, with experience from inception through delivery to customers. You will be responsible for driving large or complex projects throughout the full product and software development lifecycle, including defining goals and ensuring milestone delivery. Success in this role will require the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-functional environment across many teams and across the organization. You will need to influence and negotiate optimally at all levels of management. The position demands strong, demonstrable coding skills in C/C++ in production environments, as well as the ability to optimize software for resource-constrained embedded systems, such as power, throughput, and memory/compute. A clear understanding of customer experience and impact, respective use cases, and expected performance is essential. The ideal candidate should be enthusiastically passionate and inquisitive, seeking to solve everyday problems in innovative ways. Availability to travel domestically and internationally for development and on-site manufacturing support is also expected.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, develop, and maintain hardware and software systems for Apple home and audio products.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of embedded firmware development in bare-metal or RTOS environments.
  • Strong coding skills in C/C++ in production environments.
  • Ability to optimize software for resource-constrained embedded systems (e.g. power, throughput, memory/compute).
  • Clear understanding of customer experience and impact, respective use cases and expected performance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of audio, optical/image sensing technologies, ML model device integration, or platform security.
