About the position

The Embedded / Firmware Software Engineer at Amazon Robotics will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for developing and maintaining software for the world's largest fleet of autonomous robots. This role focuses on creating innovative solutions that balance performance and safety, ensuring that robotic systems meet Amazon's high standards while enhancing the safety of associates. Engineers will engage in the full software development lifecycle, from design to testing, and will collaborate with various teams to bring groundbreaking ideas to production.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain robotic systems for Amazon's autonomous robot fleet.
  • Master multiple components including networking, security, navigation, obstacle detection, motor control, and sensors.
  • Participate in the architecture of complex systems and collaborate with team members to achieve goals.
  • Provide feedback during the peer review process and communicate effectively with technical leadership.
  • Create solutions that balance performance and safety in robotic systems.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of design or architecture experience of new and existing systems.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
  • 2+ years of development experience in C or C++ within an embedded environment or robotic systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience including coding standards and testing.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with safety standards controlled environments such as IEC 61508 or ISO 26262.
