About the position

The Embedded/Firmware Software Engineer will join Amazon Robotics Firmware Team to develop and maintain software for the world's largest fleet of industrial autonomous robots. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to innovate and bring groundbreaking ideas to production, ensuring safety and performance in robotic systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain robotic systems used in the autonomous robot fleet.
• Learn and master components including networking/WiFi, security, navigation, obstacle detection, motor control, and various sensors.
• Participate in the architecture of complex systems and collaborate with coworkers to achieve team goals.
• Provide feedback in the peer review process and communicate effectively with technical leadership.
• Create solutions that balance world-class performance and safety.
• Participate in the design process, analyze potential hazards, and implement new products and features.
• Write automated tests and conduct live testing to debug and root cause issues.

Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
• 2+ years of development experience in C or C++ within an embedded environment or with robotic systems.

Nice-to-haves

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience including coding standards, code reviews, and testing.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Familiarity with developing in a safety standards controlled environment such as IEC 61508 or ISO 26262.
