About the position

The Embedded Quality Engineer at Apple is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality camera solutions for iOS products. This role involves testing firmware and drivers, designing test plans, and collaborating with development teams to diagnose and debug issues. The ideal candidate will have experience in testing embedded systems and a passion for innovation in consumer products.

Responsibilities

• Independently drive and own testing of one or more camera features across platforms.
• Design test cases and implement test plans related to functionality, performance, power, stability, and image quality of the camera solution.
• Automate test cases and develop test tools on mobile platforms.
• Partner with development teams and multi-functional QA team to triage, diagnose, debug issues and derive root-cause.
• Identify trends and highlight potential risks.

Requirements

• BS degree and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
• 3 years+ of QA experience testing embedded system products.
• Proficient in Python or similar scripting language.
• Experience developing automated tests supporting embedded systems or mobile devices.
• Understanding of camera technologies, image signal processing (ISP) pipeline, 3A, video formats, and color space.

Nice-to-haves

• Strong in developing system and feature level test plans and test cases.
• Familiarity and experience with command-line operation of operating systems such as macOS or Unix/Linux preferred.
• Strong verbal and excellent interpersonal skills.
