About the position

The Embedded QA Engineer - Camera role at Apple focuses on ensuring the quality of camera solutions for iOS products. The position involves testing firmware and drivers related to the image processing pipeline and machine learning neural engine. The engineer will collaborate closely with software development teams to create and implement test plans, ensuring that the camera features meet high standards of functionality, performance, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Independently drive and own testing of one or more camera features across platforms.
• Design test cases and implement test plans related to functionality, performance, power, stability, and image quality of the camera solution.
• Automate test cases and develop test tools on mobile platforms.
• Partner with development teams and multi-functional QA team to triage, diagnose, debug issues and derive root-cause.
• Identify trends and highlight potential risks.

Requirements

• BS degree and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
• 3 years+ of QA experience testing embedded system products.
• Proficient in Python or similar scripting language.
• Experience developing automated tests supporting embedded systems or mobile devices.
• Understanding of camera technologies, image signal processing (ISP) pipeline, 3A, video formats, and color space.

Nice-to-haves

• Strong in developing system and feature level test plans and test cases.
• Familiarity and experience with command-line operation of operating systems such as macOS or Unix/Linux preferred.
• Strong verbal and excellent interpersonal skills.
