About the position
The Embedded Software Engineer III position at Actalent involves developing and debugging firmware for embedded micro-controllers, with a focus on real-time operating systems and automated testing. This role requires hands-on experience with firmware development and testing, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and resolve software issues effectively.
Responsibilities
- Developing compartmentalized firmware features
- Developing firmware tests
- Debugging firmware issues
- Understanding and implementing firmware on micro-controllers
- Debugging software and firmware issues such as faults and lockups
- Triaging bugs by analyzing logs and stack traces
- Determining and executing manual test cases
- Developing automated test cases and adding them to testing frameworks
- Providing logistical support and device management
- Offering lab and technical support, including playtesting and dogfooding
Requirements
- 3-4 years of experience in embedded software engineering
- Experience with embedded micro-controllers such as ARM Cortex M0/M3/M4 architecture
- Proficiency in design and programming in C or C++ for development, debugging, testing, and performance analysis
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with the Zephyr RTOS
- Familiarity with peripherals such as USB, SPI, MIPI, CSI/DSI, I2C, UART, GPIO, etc. and their interrupt priorities
