About the position

As an Embedded Test Engineer at VusionGroup, you will play a crucial role in the R&D team, focusing on testing embedded software for hardware platforms. Your responsibilities will include designing test plans, executing tests, automating testing processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality and performance. This position is integral to the development of innovative retail IoT solutions, contributing to the company's mission of enhancing commerce through technology.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with development and product teams to design detailed test plans and test cases based on product specifications, requirements, and use cases.
  • Perform manual and automated testing of embedded software on hardware platforms, including functional, regression, and performance testing.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test frameworks and scripts for embedded systems, ensuring scalability and efficiency in testing processes.
  • Validate the integration between hardware components and software applications, identifying potential compatibility issues and ensuring seamless operation.
  • Identify and document defects, bugs, and issues discovered during testing, working with development teams to ensure prompt resolution and track progress through to completion.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and tools by implementing new methodologies, refining test scripts, and optimizing automated test setups.
  • Create and maintain clear, comprehensive, and detailed documentation of test procedures, results, and defects for future reference and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, product) to ensure alignment on testing strategies, product improvements, and release schedules.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in embedded systems testing.
  • Experience with embedded software development tools and hardware debugging (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.).
  • Familiarity with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Hands-on experience with testing frameworks and automation tools.
  • Understanding of communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, etc.).
  • Familiarity with version control systems (like Git) and defect tracking tools (like JIRA).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical specifications and schematics.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (Mechanical Engineering, Firmware, Industrial Engineering, etc.).
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience in a continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) environment.
  • Experience in scripting languages like Python for test automation.
