About the position

Geiger is the largest family-owned and managed promotional products distributor in the industry, and we are seeking an Embroidery Machine Operator to join our Decorations team. This role is essential in ensuring that our embroidery operations run smoothly and efficiently. The operator will work under the general supervision of the Decorations Operations Manager and will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining embroidery machines while applying continuous improvement tools and concepts. The ideal candidate will possess a positive attitude, work well in a team environment, and effectively manage daily workflow. The Embroidery Machine Operator will utilize Barudan software to direct the day's jobs to the embroidery machines. This includes selecting the appropriate apparel, logo, and location of embroidery as determined by the work order. The operator will set up the machine with the correct color thread and prepare garments by selecting the proper backing and hooping according to job specifications. Quality control is paramount, and the operator will be responsible for removing backing and cleaning up any loose threads, as well as repairing defective stitches when possible, depending on embroidery run time. In addition to operating the machines, the operator will perform preventative and regular maintenance to ensure the machines are in good working order. Troubleshooting any machine issues and escalating them to the manager as needed is also part of the role. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and the flexibility to work shifts and overtime as necessary. The operator will be on their feet for the entire shift and will perform other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Knowledge equivalent to a high school diploma with specialized training in embroidery essentials.
  • 1-3 years of commercial embroidery experience preferred.
  • 3 months to one year of warehouse/production experience, preferably with a machine setup and operations background.
