Embryologist Lab Assistant (Bovine Reproduction)

About the position

The Embryologist Lab Assistant at Lander Veterinary Clinic plays a crucial role in supporting advanced bovine reproductive technologies. This position involves assisting the head embryologist with laboratory procedures related to bovine embryo production, ensuring high standards of quality control, and contributing to innovative research in livestock reproduction.

Responsibilities

• Assist in collecting, processing, and evaluating oocytes and embryos.
• Prepare laboratory equipment, solutions, and culture media for embryo production.
• Maintain accurate records of lab procedures and results.
• Perform cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance of laboratory tools and workspaces.
• Support in conducting in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures, including sperm preparation and oocyte fertilization.
• Assist with embryo freezing, thawing, and handling for transfer.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure the highest standards of embryo quality.
• Monitor laboratory supplies and assist with inventory management.
• Adhere to all laboratory protocols, biosecurity measures, and safety regulations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support ET/IVF team objectives.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required.
• Associates degree or higher in animal science, or a related field preferred.
• Experience in a laboratory setting, particularly in reproductive or veterinary labs preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise protocols.
• Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling delicate specimens.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new skills and procedures quickly in a dynamic environment.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings or weekends, as needed.
