About the position

Mayo Clinic is seeking three highly qualified radiologists to provide overnight teleradiology coverage for Diagnostic General Radiology at its Jacksonville, FL location. The role involves providing final interpretation of all inpatient and emergency department (ED) examinations, which primarily consist of plain film, CT, and MRI exams. Although the facility is not a Level 1 trauma center, the emergency department handles a wide range of acute and urgent clinical disease presentations, supporting a robust subspecialty hospital practice with a strong focus on oncology and organ transplant cases. The Mayo Clinic Florida is recognized as a DNV-accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center, emphasizing the quality of care provided. The work schedule for this position is structured as 7 days on followed by 14 days off, with overnight shifts lasting 10 hours from Monday to Sunday, adhering to Eastern Standard Time. Candidates will have the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in the continental United States. Initially, the coverage will be dedicated to Mayo Clinic Florida, but there are plans to develop a subspecialty enterprise coverage team that will extend support across the Mayo Clinic's Midwest Health Systems, Arizona, and Florida practices. This presents an exciting opportunity for candidates to engage in a high-caliber, collegial practice focused on emergency and inpatient radiology imaging. The ideal candidate will possess fellowship-level training in emergency, body, neuro, cardiothoracic, or musculoskeletal radiology, along with strong general radiology skills. A commitment to resident and fellow education is essential, as the candidate will be responsible for over-reading and providing instructive feedback to residents on call during overnight shifts, typically involving one trainee per shift. The Department of Radiology comprises 75 radiologists, 6 physicists, 24 residents, and 6 fellows, with plans for further expansion of both residency and fellowship programs. The Florida campus is currently undergoing significant growth, including a 40% expansion of the Mayo Clinic Florida Hospital and the installation of North America's first carbon ion therapy facility.
