About the position
The Emergency Department Services Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the nursing and physician staff in managing patient care flow within the emergency department. This position involves registration, discharge, and order entry on the KPDS mainframe, while also acting as a liaison for patients and their families. The assistant is responsible for maintaining professional standards and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for registration, discharge, and order entry on the KPDS mainframe.
- Assists nursing and physician staff in managing patient care flow.
- Acts as a liaison for patients and families.
- Maintains standards of professional behavior to enhance service quality.
- Demonstrates competencies in the use of KPDS/OPAS mainframe.
- Provides nurse/physician and clerical support.
- Provides bedside flow and discharge services.
- Conducts telephone triage and communicates clearly with patients and staff.
- Organizes, plans, and sets priorities to complete work with minimal assistance.
- Works as a key member of the ED team under the direction of nursing and physician staff.
Requirements
- Two (2) years experience in a medical setting.
- Valid CPR Certification.
- Skill in handling a multi-line phone.
- Superb customer service skills.
- General computer knowledge and data entry competence.
- One year experience in a hospital or outpatient medical setting.
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
