About the position
The ER/ED Technician at Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center plays a crucial role in providing patient care and assisting healthcare providers in performing various procedures. This position is part of a collaborative team focused on delivering high-quality emergency services, including pediatric care, within a fast-paced environment. The technician will work under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians, ensuring effective communication and updates regarding patient conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform assigned procedures such as electrocardiogram testing (EKG), wound cleansing, and vital sign measurements under the supervision of healthcare providers.
- Assist with patient exams and minor surgical procedures, including lumbar punctures and suturing lacerations, within the scope of training.
- Conduct specimen collection and ensure accuracy in identification and integrity using appropriate techniques.
- Provide updates to healthcare providers regarding changes in patients' conditions and document vital signs and procedures accurately.
- Monitor supply stock levels and maintain a safe environment by notifying relevant departments as needed.
- Attend department meetings and assist in training new ED Technicians.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) or higher with state licensure or state certification, or Certified Nursing Assistant in state of practice is required for new hires and transfers.
- Basic computer skills and effective communication skills are necessary.
- Problem-solving ability is essential.
