About the position

The Emergency Department Technician - Lead at UW Health is responsible for demonstrating expertise in emergency technician procedures, providing educational support to fellow technicians, and ensuring adherence to safety and emergency protocols. This part-time role involves working evening and night shifts, including weekends, and requires a commitment to patient care and operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate expertise in the performance of emergency technician procedures.
• Provide educational learnings to emergency department technicians.
• Follow established safety and emergency policies and procedures in daily practice or emergency situations.
• Handle equipment and supplies during emergencies.
• Perform hazardous substance decontamination of contaminated patients while wearing level C personal protective equipment.

Requirements

• Completion of EMT-Basic required.
• 1 year of experience as an ED Technician required.
• EMT - Basic license or National Registry of EMT required.
• CPR/BLS certification required.

Nice-to-haves

• Completion of AEMT or Paramedic program preferred.
• ACLS and PALS certification preferred.
• National Registry or Wisconsin Advanced Emergency Medical Technician or Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic license preferred.
