About the position

Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, is looking for an Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) to join our Emergency Department team in Greenfield, MA. The position is full-time, requiring three 12-hour shifts a week from 7 PM to 7 AM, including every other weekend and holiday. The ED Tech will perform a variety of technical tasks and bedside functions, providing direct patient care, hygiene, skin care, mobility, transfers, and monitoring. The role involves managing equipment, assisting in procedures, and maintaining the lab area for point-of-care testing. The ED Tech will work closely with the nursing team to ensure high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency department environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides age-appropriate care to patients.
  • Monitors basic physiological parameters and records vital signs.
  • Administers treatments and procedures in accordance with BMC policy/procedures.
  • Assists patients with elimination of body wastes.
  • Performs point-of-care testing and maintains laboratory regulatory status.
  • Assists with treatment by following specified orders as delegated by the RN or provider.
  • Communicates effectively with team and patients.
  • Is knowledgeable of and initiates emergency procedures.
  • Functions as a member of the team and assists with clinical activities.
  • Maintains knowledge on current throughput and patient progress initiatives.

Requirements

  • Direct patient care experience of 1-3 years.
  • GED or HiSET required.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.

Nice-to-haves

  • EMT, CNA, ED/Urgent Care experience or relative experience through military medical units.
  • Certified Medical Assistant certification.
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician certification.
