About the position

The Emergency Management Specialist position at the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) involves developing and implementing emergency management and preparedness protocols in accordance with the National Incident Management System (NIMS). The role focuses on ensuring effective response to onsite emergencies and incidents, coordinating with local emergency response entities, and maintaining compliance with federal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop emergency management and preparedness directives and policies.
  • Document NETL's response and preparedness annually using the DOE's Emergency Readiness Assurance Plan.
  • Act as the liaison between NETL and local emergency response entities for clear communication on emergency management issues.
  • Communicate with officials throughout DOE and other government agencies regarding emergency response matters.
  • Develop plans to ensure safe facility operations and mission accomplishment.
  • Ensure the completeness and technical accuracy of required documentation, including emergency response organization drills and exercise plans.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship or National status is required.
  • Specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 level in the Federal service, including developing emergency readiness assurance plans and overseeing emergency response exercises.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in hazardous materials screening and assessments.
  • Knowledge of emergency response protocols and regulations.
