About The Position

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) position at The George Washington University Hospital's Emergency Department involves providing critical support in a fast-paced environment. The EMT will assist in delivering high-quality patient care, collaborating with nursing and physician teams, and ensuring the efficient operation of the emergency department, which is a Level I Trauma Center equipped to handle complex emergency cases.

Requirements

  • Current EMT certification (National or DC).
  • CPR/BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to handle high-stress situations with professionalism and empathy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the care of emergency patients by performing tasks such as vital sign monitoring, EKGs, and patient transport.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment by preparing exam rooms, restocking supplies, and ensuring equipment is functional.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide efficient and effective patient care.
  • Support physicians and nurses during procedures and in emergency situations.
  • Document care and observations in the patient's medical record according to hospital standards.
  • Adhere to all safety, infection control, and patient privacy protocols.
