About the position
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) role at Essentia Health involves responding to both emergent and non-emergent calls, assessing patient conditions, and providing necessary medical care at the scene and during transport to medical facilities. The EMT is responsible for accurately reporting patient information to medical staff and may also provide care in hospital settings under the supervision of registered nurses. This position requires a commitment to patient-centered care and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
Responsibilities
- Respond to emergent and non-emergent calls.
- Assess patient conditions and determine urgency.
- Provide emergency care at the scene and during transport.
- Utilize medical equipment to treat patients.
- Communicate patient information to medical staff in a timely manner.
- Obtain medical history and perform physical examinations.
- Provide patient care in hospital settings as delegated by RN.
Requirements
- State licensure/certification as an Emergency Medical Technician or higher.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification within one month of hire.
- Meet driving requirements acceptable to Essentia Health's insurer.
- Pass a state background check for clearance to work with vulnerable adults.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with NIMS 1, 2, 7 training.
- Ability to work flexible shifts including day/evening/night rotations.
