About the position

MUSC Health - PeeDee Division is seeking an Emergency Medicine Advanced Practice Provider (APP), either a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA), to provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department. This role involves managing a diverse patient population, performing comprehensive assessments, and executing therapeutic procedures as per established protocols. The position requires collaboration with supervising physicians and participation in quality improvement and clinical research activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care to patients through comprehensive history taking and physical examinations.
  • Evaluates and treats patients based on diagnostic test results and clinical guidelines.
  • Initiates referrals to other healthcare providers and consults with attending or collaborating physicians.
  • Documents and bills for direct care provided to patients.
  • Utilizes evidence-based decision-making in clinical practice.
  • Participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.
  • Supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization.
  • Maintains professional practice through participation in professional organizations and continuing education.
  • Potentially precepts students enrolled as advanced practice provider students at MUSC.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physician Assistant or APRN.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification for adult inpatient positions.
  • At least 2 years of Emergency Room experience as a PA or NP.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current Emergency Room Nurse Practitioner (ENP) Certification.
  • Experience in managing stable chronic disease states and primary care across the lifespan.
