Emergency Response Officer

About the position

The Emergency Response Officer (ERO) or Emergency Response Team Member at Securitas is responsible for responding to various emergency situations, including fire, medical incidents, hazardous materials, and other emergencies. This role requires performing rescue procedures, fire suppression, and providing medical assistance while ensuring the safety and security of the premises. The ERO will also engage in standard security duties and maintain communication with the central dispatch center and on-duty supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergency scenes including fire, medical, bomb threats, flooding, and hazardous materials incidents.
• Performs scene size up and relays information to central dispatch and on-duty supervisors.
• Conducts rescue procedures including vehicle and machinery extrication, and high/low angle rescue.
• Engages in fire suppression efforts using fire apparatus and extinguishers.
• Responds to hazardous material emergencies and provides spill containment.
• Initiates patient assessment and stabilization during medical emergencies.
• Relays patient care information to medical personnel and administers treatment as per protocols.
• Performs triage duties during mass casualty incidents.
• Conducts standard security duties such as unlocking doors and patrolling premises.
• Prepares logs and reports as required.

Requirements

• N.F.P.A. Firefighter 1 and 2 certification required.
• Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations Level certifications required.
• National Registry or State of Indiana Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification required.
• Out of state certifications must be transferable to Indiana and completed within 90 days of hire.
• Must meet applicable state, county, and local certification requirements for EMT or EMR.
