About the position

The Emergency Room (ER) Nurse at Saint Mary's Hospital plays a vital role in providing care to emergent and critical patients in the Emergency Department. This position involves engaging in continuous learning and applying critical thinking skills to manage high-acuity cases effectively. The role also offers opportunities for professional growth, including pursuing certification as a trauma nurse in a Level 2 Trauma Center.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in didactic learning sessions to enhance understanding of Emergency Department nursing.
  • Apply critical thinking skills to manage high-acuity and complex patients effectively.
  • Pursue certification as a trauma nurse with opportunities for professional growth.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Nursing Program with an Associate's degree in Nursing is mandatory.
  • Must hold a valid and current Connecticut registered nurse licensure.
  • A minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in an Acute InPatient setting is mandatory, with preference for Emergency Room or Acute InPatient nursing experience.
  • Current BLS or CPR Certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
  • ACLS and TNCC certifications are required within three months of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred.
