About The Position

The Emergency Vehicle Technician will work on equipment and systems that are unique to emergency vehicles. This role involves repairing and maintaining specialized equipment found in ambulances, fire trucks, and other emergency vehicles, as well as completing reports of equipment validation.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience as an Emergency Vehicle Technician.
  • Must possess and maintain a current Oklahoma Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to obtain Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain the specialized equipment found in ambulances, fire trucks, and other emergency vehicles.
  • Engaged in the inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, repair, and testing of emergency response vehicles IAW Emergency Vehicle Technician II.
  • Determine and order repair parts on each work order.
  • Fabricate items such as fittings, lines, and hoses; repair interior/exterior lighting; engine/power train assemblies; air-conditioning and heating systems of vehicles.
  • Conduct special purpose testing including die-electrical tests, component function tests, load tests, and applicable pressure tests.
  • Install and remove emergency services and other vehicle communications, lighting systems, decals, and markings.
  • Test drive vehicles and test components and systems using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices.
  • Examine vehicles to determine the extent of damage or malfunctions.
  • Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes.
  • Follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas.
  • Confer with customers to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems and discuss work to be performed and future repair requirements.
  • Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups.
  • Repair and service air conditioning, heating, engine-cooling, and electrical systems.
  • Test and adjust repaired systems to meet manufacturers' performance specifications.
  • Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors.
  • Tear down, repair, and rebuild faulty assemblies such as power systems, steering systems, and linkages.
  • Other duties as assigned.
