About the position

The Emergency Vehicle Technician position at Stolz Telecom involves the installation and maintenance of Public Safety Emergency Vehicle Equipment in various emergency vehicles. This full-time role requires a combination of technical skills and customer service to ensure the effective operation of critical communication applications.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently provide customers with excellent service.
  • Confer with customers to determine the nature of malfunctions or their needs on a new vehicle build.
  • Cut openings and drill holes for fixtures and equipment using electric drills and routers.
  • Inspect and test electrical or electronic systems to locate and diagnose malfunctions using visual inspections and testing instruments such as oscilloscopes and voltmeters.
  • Install equipment and accessories such as emergency lighting, electronic surveillance equipment, communication equipment, and storage systems.
  • Diagnose or repair problems with electronic equipment in motor vehicles.
  • Replace and clean electrical or electronic components.
  • Run new speaker and electrical cables.
  • Splice wires with knives or cutting pliers and solder connections to fixtures and equipment.
  • Estimate costs of repairs based on parts and labor charges.
  • Record results of diagnostic tests.
  • Remove seats, carpeting, and interiors of doors; and reinstall interior parts.
  • Perform all job functions in a safe manner.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in a vehicle maintenance environment.
  • Installation of Public Safety Communications Products preferred.
  • History of Installation of Public Safety Emergency Vehicle Equipment is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced unstructured environment with little supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with a variety of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
  • EVT Certification is a plus.
