About the position

The Emerging Store Manager at Walgreens Boots Alliance is responsible for overseeing the front end of the store, managing customer service associates, and supporting the Store Manager in daily operations. This role includes ensuring customer satisfaction, managing store performance, and leading team members to achieve company goals. The position requires a focus on operational excellence, financial performance, and team development, while also engaging with customers to enhance their experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises customer service associates and designated hitters.
  • Manages the front end of the store and makes recommendations on overall operations.
  • Supports the Store Manager with the overall operation of the store to achieve company deliverables.
  • Assumes responsibilities of all store activities in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Ensures proper merchandising and protection of store assets.
  • Improves store sales and profitability.
  • Leads and manages store team members, including recruitment, hiring, performance management, and discipline.
  • Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Resolves customer complaints in a timely manner and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Models and shares customer service best practices.
  • Monitors customer service, provides coaching, training, and develops plans for improvements.
  • Empowers team members to find impactful resolutions for customers.
  • Accountable for improving overall customer service metrics.
  • Supervises the operation of the store and team members, including assigning daily activities and delegating tasks.
  • Collaborates with external partners to drive the future of the store.
  • Identifies ways to support external partnerships and services.
  • Supports the Store Manager in leveraging data and analysis for decision-making.
  • Supervises cash management and bookkeeping operations.
  • Supervises front end and pharmacy inventory, completing resets and price changes.
  • Ensures execution of operational feedback from the Store Manager and District Manager.
  • Ensures store cleanliness and manages repair and maintenance.
  • Provides for the safety and well-being of team members.
  • Complies with all company policies and applicable laws.
  • Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
  • Independently analyzes financial and performance data; creates action plans to support business deliverables.
  • Collaborates with Store Manager to identify sales opportunities and ensure store growth.
  • Supports Pharmacy during busy periods, including serving as a pharmacy technician when necessary.
  • Responsible for leading and training team members; provides mentoring and coaching.
  • Manages team member performance and discipline.
  • Acquires and retains talent, ensuring a diverse pipeline of future leaders.
  • Establishes a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
  • Successfully completes Store Manager learning and development program.
  • Communicates regularly with team members to ensure open communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a solid academic record, all majors welcome OR satisfactorily completed a Walgreens Community Internship Program OR High School Diploma/GED and two years of experience in a supervisory position.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities including professional business ethics, self-motivation, and strong communication skills.
  • Completion of Store Manager training program (LEAP) or willingness to complete Walgreens Leadership Essentials training within 12 weeks of start date.
  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule including extended days, evenings, and weekend hours.
  • Willingness to accept promotion into a Store Manager position, if offered.
