About the position

The Account Manager at U.S. Retirement & Benefits Partners is responsible for providing high-quality service to clients through effective management of an assigned book of business. This role involves resolving client service issues, managing compliance activities, and educating clients on employee benefits and legislation. The Account Manager will also coordinate client communications, analyze benefit plans, and support the development of junior staff, all while ensuring client satisfaction and retention.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality and efficient service to clients through day-to-day account management.
  • Resolve client service issues and escalate concerns when necessary.
  • Project manage cross-segment and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Collect information for obtaining benefit plan pricing from insurance carriers and general agents.
  • Educate clients on applicable legislation and market trends regarding employee benefits compliance.
  • Review and summarize benchmarking content and create relevant materials based on client life cycle/industry trends.
  • Coordinate and manage client compliance activities such as Form 5500 filings and SBC reviews.
  • Work directly with clients and carriers on renewal reviews, RFPs, and claims handling.
  • Analyze and compare carrier quotes and coverage offerings.
  • Examine potential plan design and benefit cost changes.
  • Support the creation of client communication materials such as Benefit Guides and email campaigns.
  • Play a key role in the delivery of annual enrollment to client employees.
  • Perform technical and consultative reviews of client materials to ensure quality and alignment with client objectives.
  • Manage and process enrollments at the carrier level, delegating to junior team members as appropriate.
  • Monitor COBRA offerings and participants, delegating to junior team members as appropriate.
  • Manage Benefits Administration communications and implementation processes in coordination with the Ben Admin Center of Excellence.
  • Contribute to the development of junior staff and key business outcomes such as client retention and satisfaction.
  • Create and implement process improvements for enhanced client service and operational efficiency.
  • Build and solidify relationships with existing clients through exceptional ongoing care.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of client service experience with employee benefits, including major medical and voluntary benefits.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong client service orientation and timely communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Life, Accident and Health Insurance License required.
  • Insurance experience managing client and carrier relationships.
  • Proficient in Excel and Office 365.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bi-lingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Strong financial acumen.
  • Strong analytical skills for analyzing client data.
  • In-depth understanding of major medical and voluntary plans.
