About the position

The Employee Benefits Coordinator is responsible for managing and administering the company's employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and disability leave. This role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations while providing support to employees regarding their benefits. The coordinator will also cross-train as backup support for the payroll team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs including health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance.
  • Coordinate the annual open enrollment process, including employee communication and system updates.
  • Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations in a timely manner.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees with questions or issues regarding their benefits.
  • Educate employees on available benefits and how to utilize them effectively.
  • Resolve employee issues related to benefits, including claims and billing discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, and ACA.
  • Review form 5500's and maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations.
  • Assist in the onboarding process by explaining benefits to new hires.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in employee benefits.
  • Cross-train as backup support to the payroll team.
  • Occasional travel may be required for Open Enrollment events.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in benefits administration.
  • High level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration systems.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Analytical skills with attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Professional certifications (e.g. CEBS, SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR) are a plus.
  • Experience with Paycom software is a plus.
