About the position

The Employee Recreation Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and executing recreational activities for Xanterra park employees in Columbia Falls, Montana. This seasonal role emphasizes safety, compliance with policies, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment while working outdoors in various conditions. The coordinator will communicate with staff at all levels, promote events, and maintain facilities, contributing to a warm and friendly hospitality experience for all guests.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, implement, and evaluate Parkwide and location planned recreational activities.
  • Lead trips and activities, ensuring all details for successful operation are considered.
  • Enforce safety policies and rules during activities to ensure enjoyment for all participants.
  • Publicize and promote staff recreation activities through flyers and announcements.
  • Assist employees with questions and transactions, and manage rental equipment.
  • Track activities using Smartsheet and communicate with management and HR.
  • Supervise and maintain recreation facilities and equipment for safety and proper operation.
  • Guide hikes of moderate distances in various weather conditions, including back-country hikes.
  • Prepare and distribute a monthly activity calendar after approval from the HR Director.
  • Assist the HR Director in maintaining a strong social media presence.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in outdoor education, event planning, or employee support.
  • Background in handling social media platforms.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities.
  • At least 21 years of age with a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of organizing and executing programs.
  • Ability to obtain Wilderness First Aid Certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in hospitality or recreation management.
  • Familiarity with Glacier National Park's natural environment.
