Responsibilities

  • Offer expert legal counsel to the Human Resources team on employee relations, workplace policies, compliance matters and provide recommendations to enhance employee relations strategies that foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Ensure adherence to employment laws and wage & hour compliance across multiple states, including state-specific regulations, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, Title II, NLRA, and multistate licensing requirements.
  • Supervise investigations and provide legal oversight for disciplinary actions such as write-ups, suspensions, and terminations.
  • Design and conduct training sessions on organizational practices, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation strategies, and state-specific employment laws for management, HR personnel, and staff.
  • Advise on grievances and conflicts, offering legal guidance to mitigate risk.
  • Draft and review workplace policies to ensure alignment with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Manage employment-related litigation matters, administrative proceedings, respond to EEOC, DOL, OSHA and regulatory agencies and represent the Company in managing agency complaints and employee dispute mediations.
  • Provide general oversight of the Company's operational litigation matters and collaborate with the Risk department and management regarding these issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active New York State Bar membership in good standing.
  • Experience practicing employment law in the healthcare/Healthtech space
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing employment law, with a focus on employee relations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
