About the position

The Employee Relations Consultant plays a crucial role in supporting the Adult Correction Department by providing expert guidance on employee relations issues. This position is responsible for fostering a positive work environment, addressing employee concerns, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. The consultant will work closely with management and staff to resolve conflicts, facilitate communication, and promote a culture of respect and inclusion within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and support on employee relations issues to management and staff.
  • Investigate employee complaints and grievances, ensuring fair and thorough processes.
  • Develop and implement training programs on employee relations topics.
  • Assist in the development and revision of policies and procedures related to employee relations.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and mediation between employees and management.
  • Monitor and analyze employee relations trends and recommend improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in employee relations or human resources.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Human Resources (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP).
  • Experience in a correctional or government environment.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish.
