About the position

The Employee Relations Consultant at Legacy Health plays a crucial role in transforming the human resources function into a strategic partner that prioritizes people to enhance patient care. This position involves providing comprehensive HR support, managing labor relations, and promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace. The consultant will work closely with management and employees to address HR issues, develop training solutions, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards, all while fostering a culture of curiosity and innovation within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic and tactical HR support to defined customer groups.
  • Engages and consults with all levels of management to establish working relationships.
  • Advises management on personnel policies, legal compliance, grievances, and terminations.
  • Partners in the design and implementation of solutions to business problems.
  • Educates management on employee and labor relations best practices.
  • Conducts needs analysis for training and development solutions.
  • Develops and evaluates training materials and programs.
  • Identifies potential legal or regulatory issues in employee relations.
  • Implements HR policies to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Researches and mediates employment issues that may lead to litigation.
  • Defines problems and investigates causes before taking action.
  • Communicates effectively with various audiences and encourages open dialogue.
  • Administers collective bargaining agreements and manages grievance processes.
  • Participates in union-management contract negotiations and strike planning.
  • Develops strategies in response to labor organizing efforts.
  • Demonstrates understanding of business needs through effective HR solutions.
  • Surveys and assesses employee engagement and recommends actions to improve it.
  • Collects feedback for coaching and development initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
  • Seven years or more of progressively responsible experience in HR.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations governing employee and labor relations.
  • Health care experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of all HR functional areas, with in-depth knowledge of two to three areas.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to influence decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with labor relations and collective bargaining processes.
