About the position

The Employee Relations Consultant at Hartford HealthCare serves as a vital link between the employer and employees, focusing on enhancing performance, minimizing risks, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and labor laws. This role is essential in fostering a positive employee relations culture by proactively assessing the work environment, addressing workplace concerns, and guiding leadership in effective communication and engagement with employees.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate investigative processes to resolve employee relations concerns and interpret organizational policies for decision making.
  • Guide leaders through the performance improvement process using coaching, development, and corrective action tools.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize data to identify trends and collaborate with stakeholders for solutions; conduct exit interviews to inform retention strategies.
  • Partner with Human Capital Consultants to identify engagement opportunities and implement recommended solutions.
  • Assist leaders in performance evaluation and merit compensation processes, including reviewing performance ratings and justifying position eliminations when necessary.
  • Collaborate with legal resources in dispute resolution situations and facilitate communication regarding program changes.
  • Work with bargaining unit employees and leadership to maintain effective relationships and manage the grievance process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in a union environment.
  • Basic knowledge of labor law, grievance arbitration, contract interpretation, and negotiations.
  • Strong investigation skills and experience in coaching and mentoring.
  • Ability to facilitate programs and processes effectively.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Consulting and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to influence multiple stakeholders at all levels.
