About the position

The Employee Relations Investigator at General Motors is responsible for conducting investigations into misconduct and policy violations, including discrimination, harassment, and bullying. This role requires collaboration with various departments to ensure compliance with HR policies and to maintain the integrity of the workplace. The investigator will develop investigative plans, communicate findings, and recommend improvements to processes while ensuring confidentiality and adherence to professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform investigations of misconduct and policy violations.
• Develop investigative plans and document work according to professional standards.
• Communicate investigation results clearly and timely to all stakeholders.
• Collaborate with HR, Audit, Security, Operations, and other departments.
• Work with the Policy team on proactive training efforts and equity in employment actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and/or a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in HR, Legal, or Security.
• Demonstrated managerial courage through effective communication.
• Ability to collaborate and build relationships within a matrixed organization.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Aptitude for critical thinking and presenting actionable recommendations.
• Exceptional organizational, analytical, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to conduct effective interviews and maintain confidentiality.
• Proficient in research using multiple information sources.
• Excellent computer skills, including advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.
