About the position

The Employee Relations Manager at Schnabel Engineering is responsible for leading the employee relations function within the firm. This role focuses on fostering a positive workplace culture, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and effectively managing complex employee relations issues. The manager will support HR strategies, enhance management-employee relationships, and contribute to organizational performance, employee retention, and engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee employee relations strategies, policies, and processes.
  • Manage and resolve routine and complex employee relations issues, including investigations and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Keep current with changes in employment law and workplace trends affecting government contractors.
  • Provide consultation to managers and employees on resolving disputes and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Partner with managers to develop employee management skills and improve communication.
  • Develop, review, and update employee relations policies and lead training sessions for managers and employees.
  • Track and analyze employee relations metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Lead initiatives to support employee engagement and workplace satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5-7 years in employee relations.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations relevant to government contractors.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent conflict resolution, problem-solving, negotiation, and mediation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex cases with confidentiality and integrity.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using HR metrics and software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree or certification(s) such as MBA, SPHR, or SHRM-SCP.
  • Previous experience in government contracting or professional services sectors.
  • Familiarity with engineering or technical industry environments.
