About the position

The Employee Relations Manager at Zayo Group is responsible for overseeing and implementing employee relations programs, providing consultation, facilitation, and resolution strategies for workplace issues. This role requires a strategic and proactive approach to resolving workplace issues, promoting employee engagement, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies. The manager acts as a trusted advisor to employees and people managers, implementing solutions that support a fair and productive workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Consultation and notification of stakeholders regarding sensitive topics such as harassment and discrimination allegations.
  • Identify and analyze employee relations issues, recommending actions to maintain consistency and minimize risk.
  • Foster a workplace culture promoting diversity, equity, collaboration, and inclusion.
  • Conduct comprehensive investigations and provide interpretations of company policies and labor laws.
  • Lead inquiries into employee issues and grievances, proactively resolving conflicts.
  • Provide timely employee relations support for people managers, including coaching and performance management.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of all employee relations case management activities.
  • Ensure accurate completion of offboarding processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business, or related field plus five years of related experience, or nine years of direct related experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum five years of experience interpreting and applying employment policies in a large organization.
  • Experience working in union environments and/or Canada preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment law and regulations.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills for effective intake and analysis of employee relations issues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the telecommunications industry.
  • PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
  • Experience in Workday preferred.
