About the position

The Employee Relations Partner at Quest Diagnostics plays a crucial role in both leadership and team capacities, focusing on coaching and counseling leaders and peers regarding performance improvement, employee development, and corrective actions. This position involves documenting all Employee Relations activities, mentoring Human Resources Generalists, and providing support across various geographical regions. The role requires interpreting employment policies and laws while collaborating with legal partners to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching, expertise, and consultation to internal customers on behavior modification, conflict resolution, and disciplinary issues.
  • Investigate and resolve workplace issues, including discrimination, harassment, and performance-related concerns.
  • Partner with departments like EHS to maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Advise managers on performance evaluations, feedback techniques, and performance improvement plans.
  • Educate managers on federal and state employment laws to ensure legal compliance.
  • Facilitate communication between employees, management, and HR functions.
  • Assemble and review documentation for thorough investigations and maintain complete records.
  • Stay updated on policies, guidelines, and employment laws across regions and functions.
  • Assist in developing responses for litigation or EEOC charges as needed.
  • Support managers in assessing ADA accommodation requests.
  • Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence and HR Business Partners to resolve complex complaints.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all applicable laws and company policies.

Requirements

  • 3 - 5 years of Employee Relations experience, with knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Familiarity with HR systems such as HRIS, HR Reporting, and Case Management.
  • Thorough knowledge of Human Resources philosophies, principles, and practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Union avoidance experience.
