About the position

The Employee Relations Specialist will collaborate with the Employee Relations Manager to foster positive work relationships between the City of Laredo and its employees. This role involves providing guidance on policies, facilitating conflict resolution, and assisting in training program development and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve complex employee relations issues through thorough investigations of complaints and grievances.
  • Analyze trends and metrics to develop solutions and policies for departments.
  • Provide guidance on departmental reorganizations and workforce planning.
  • Manage relationships with departments by communicating project status and resolving concerns.
  • Identify training needs and facilitate training for departments.
  • Serve as a resource for employees regarding workplace questions and concerns.
  • Provide performance management guidance to line management.
  • Conduct presentations on Human Resources topics.
  • Maintain good communication between staff and other business contacts.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or 60 completed college hours in Business Administration or related field.
  • At least four years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources, particularly in employee relations or internal investigations.
  • Valid Texas Driver License.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Experience in statistical analysis and labor market surveys.
  • Knowledge of employment law and policies.
