About the position

The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for fostering a positive and productive work environment by addressing employee concerns, managing workplace conflicts, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and employment laws. This role involves providing guidance to managers and employees, conducting investigations, and implementing strategies to enhance employee satisfaction and retention. Additionally, the role includes backup for payroll processing and generalist responsibilities, offering support across various HR functions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough and confidential investigations into employee complaints, grievances, or allegations of misconduct.
  • Document findings and recommend appropriate resolutions in alignment with company policies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Develop and update HR policies and communicate them effectively to employees and managers.
  • Monitor adherence to company policies and mediate workplace disputes.
  • Deliver training on HR best practices, conflict management, and legal compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee relations cases and outcomes.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Organize employee recognition programs.
  • Assist with payroll processing and unemployment claim hearings.
  • Proactively identify and address potential employee relations issues.
  • Escalate complex matters to the Director of HR when necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or closely related field required.
  • Employee Relation experience in Human Resources of 2 years minimum.
  • Working Knowledge of Employee Policy and Compliance.
  • High level of attention to detail and follow up is crucial.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively on sensitive matters.
  • Understanding and knowledge of HIPAA compliance strongly desired.

Nice-to-haves

  • Payroll/Benefit administration background strongly preferred.
  • HR Certification strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work as a team and be a collaborative contributor.
