About the position

The Employee Relations Specialist plays a crucial role in managing and resolving complex employee relations issues within the organization. This position involves providing guidance on policy interpretation, promoting a positive work environment, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and HR best practices. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and advise leaders on employee relations issues including development needs, performance issues, accommodation requests, retaliation, and terminations.
  • Provide guidance that balances business needs with compliance, identifying when to engage risk/legal resources for complex issues.
  • Ensure disciplinary documentation is handled consistently and fairly for all employees.
  • Conduct thorough and objective workplace investigations, preparing appropriate documentation.
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Conduct timely exit interviews and track data around employee relations to identify trends.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to employee management to reduce legal risk and ensure compliance.
  • Assist with writing and dissemination of staff-related communications.
  • Help manage annual and ad-hoc compensation adjustments and bonuses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience handling employee relations across all levels of an organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR practices.
  • Experience in conflict resolution and problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
