About the position

The Employee Relations Specialist at Goodwill of the Finger Lakes plays a crucial role in managing workplace policies and ensuring compliance with employment laws. Reporting directly to the Chief People & Culture Officer, this position involves addressing complex workplace issues, providing expert guidance to employees, and maintaining a high level of confidentiality and emotional intelligence. The Specialist is responsible for implementing HR policies, conducting investigations, and fostering positive relationships within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer workplace policies and employment law compliance.
  • Advise management and employees on disciplinary actions and performance problems.
  • Conduct investigations and interviews to resolve employee relations issues.
  • Facilitate exit interviews to identify recurring issues and provide recommendations.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with managers and employees.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal and state workplace employment laws.
  • Interpret policies and standard operating procedures for consistency and compliance.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on workplace policies and compliance.
  • Review records and documentation of disciplinary actions for compliance.
  • Assist the Employee Relations Administrator and refer employees to the Employee Assistance Program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Two years of related experience in employee relations or HR.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state regulations.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to operate independently and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and high emotional intelligence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Experience in conducting training programs.
