About the position

The Employment and Education Case Manager at My Friend's Place is responsible for supporting homeless youth in building self-sufficient lives through employment and education services. This role involves developing trust with young people, providing coaching, and facilitating access to educational programs and job opportunities. The position requires adaptability to work during evenings and weekends as needed, particularly to address youth crises and support community engagement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop strategies to recruit youth into employment and education services.
• Plan and facilitate intake assessments to co-create goals for youth on caseload.
• Create and market programming and promotional materials for opportunities.
• Utilize creative strategies to foster youth progress and retention efforts.
• Recruit and supervise Works Skills Interns.
• Maintain relationships with workforce and education programs.
• Plan and execute field trips and career exploration visits.
• Coordinate career events with the Transformative Education Manager.
• Maintain records of petty cash, youth timesheets, and job retention.
• Conduct work readiness activities including resume writing and mock interviews.
• Motivate youth to stay engaged in their goals and help problem-solve issues.
• Research and support engagement in workforce development opportunities.
• Provide supportive counseling on various issues.
• Support crisis resolution in partnership with clinical staff.
• Maintain accurate case documentation and statistics for services provided.

Requirements

• Ability to deescalate agitated young people.
• Employment eligibility verification.
• Verification of degree and current licensure, if applicable.
• Reliable transportation and valid California driver's license.
• Successful completion of background screening.
• COVID-19 Vaccination required prior to employment.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's in human services or related field preferred.
• Direct care experience with youth and young adults.
• Customer service experience.
