About the position

The Employment Case Manager plays a crucial role in assisting individuals facing barriers to employment, particularly those who are homeless, poor, or disabled. This position involves providing vocational counseling, career assessments, and employment preparation services to help participants achieve stable income and self-sufficiency. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders and a commitment to supporting marginalized communities through tailored employment solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual assessments to determine employment readiness and complete a Comprehensive Employment Plan.
  • Evaluate participants for program eligibility.
  • Facilitate group orientation and vocational workshops, assisting clients in obtaining job-related documentation.
  • Coordinate and implement vocational training or retraining necessary for participants to return to the workplace.
  • Conduct transferable skills analysis, vocational testing/evaluation, job analysis, and job search activities.
  • Develop job placement and job-seeking skills for injured workers receiving benefits.
  • Coordinate participation in programs and services designed to prepare participants for re-entry to the workforce.
  • Collaborate with team members to facilitate employment readiness, placement, and retention activities such as job fairs.
  • Meet and exceed performance goals set by the Intake Coordinator.
  • Maintain knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations relating to individuals with barriers to employment.
  • Maintain a tracking system and document client status and follow-up for placement and retention.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, or related field, or a High School Diploma/GED with at least two years of work experience with homeless populations.
  • Two years of related experience with case management services, housing, homeless, and mentally ill populations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel, and experience with internet searches.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with participants, staff, and industry partners.
  • Knowledge of community and social service resources in Alameda County.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in CPR/First Aid.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and understanding the needs of formerly homeless individuals.
