About the position

At Exact Sciences, we are dedicated to changing how the world prevents, detects, and guides treatment for cancer. The Employment Investigator plays a crucial role in supporting our compliance with state and federal labor and employment laws by conducting thorough and fair investigations into workplace complaints, including those related to discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. This position is not only about leading investigations but also involves data analysis, tracking trends, and identifying best practices to develop long-term solutions. In this role, you will lead complex employment-related investigations from start to finish. This includes developing investigation strategies, conducting witness interviews, analyzing both electronic and written records, and drafting comprehensive investigation reports. You will communicate effectively with key leadership throughout the investigation process and present your findings to stakeholders, including executive leadership. Your ability to critically analyze and recommend improvements to investigative processes will be essential in ensuring that our practices are scalable and consistent. Additionally, you will provide trend data and actionable feedback to legal and human resources teams to help mitigate risks within the organization. A strong understanding of Title VII and other employment-related laws is necessary, as is the ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information. You will be expected to uphold the company's mission and values, demonstrating accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork. This position requires a commitment to inclusivity and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, often utilizing mobile devices or computers for a significant portion of the workday.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex employment-related investigations from intake through completion.
  • Develop investigation strategies and conduct witness interviews.
  • Analyze electronic and written records and draft investigation reports.
  • Communicate efficiently with key leadership throughout the investigation process.
  • Deliver investigative findings to appropriate stakeholders, including executive leadership.
  • Create timely and comprehensive written investigation reports that clearly identify issues and findings.
  • Critically analyze and recommend improvements to investigative processes and case tracking.
  • Provide investigation case and issue trend data to reduce overall risk in the organization.
  • Work with the legal team on employment-related agency charges and litigation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a relevant field, or an Associate's degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience conducting internal investigations related to discrimination, harassment, or employee relations matters.
  • 2+ years of project management experience.
  • Strong understanding of legal compliance obligations in HR processes.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to lead responsibilities for the team.
  • Computer skills including internet navigation, email usage, and word processing.

Nice-to-haves

  • 7+ years of experience conducting internal investigations related to discrimination, harassment, or employee relations matters.
  • JD, PHR, SPHR, SHRM CP or SHRM SCP certification.
