About the position

The Employment Coach at Emory Valley Center plays a crucial role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their employment journeys. This position involves guiding clients towards achieving their employment goals, providing hands-on coaching, and ensuring a safe and supportive work environment. The role requires collaboration with community employers and maintaining accurate documentation of support services.

Responsibilities

• Guide individuals with disabilities in seeking and obtaining employment
• Provide hands-on job coaching, skills training, and transportation assistance
• Ensure a safe and supportive work environment
• Collaborate with community employers, embodying professionalism and appropriate work etiquette
• Attend meetings to report on individuals' progress
• Maintain accurate documentation of support services using computer skills
• Willingness to assist with personal care when required, always in a respectful manner

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Some experience with developmental/intellectual disabilities
• Excellent computer skills
• Ability to lift 50 pounds (weight of average manual wheelchair when chair is empty)
• Acceptable criminal background check & drug screen results
• Valid Tennessee driver's license and an acceptable driving record
• Road-safe vehicle that can transport 3 adults plus driver and auto insurance
