About the position

The Employment Services Manager at CWS is responsible for overseeing local office employment programs aimed at supporting refugees in achieving financial self-sufficiency. This role involves managing a team of Employment Specialists, ensuring program compliance, and facilitating outreach to local employers. The manager plays a crucial role in advocating for refugees and coordinating various support services to enhance their employment opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate employment staff in accordance with CWS personnel policies.
  • Promote teamwork, coordinate the workload of employment staff, delegate responsibilities, and hold staff accountable.
  • Ensure professionalism and quality employment service provision.
  • Provide ongoing training to employment staff on program developments and service requirements.
  • Monitor general client well-being and ensure clients are connected to in-house support and external service providers.
  • Identify support services that may assist clients in becoming self-sufficient, such as ESL, transportation, financial literacy training, immigration services, and childcare.
  • Oversee documentation of all contacts and services in client case files and maintain case note logs.
  • Record clients' employment-related progress in case files, including compliance, job offers, placements, job retention, and follow-up on placements.
  • Review and submit funder-required reports and liaise with employment program funders on behalf of CWS Local Office.
  • Monitor contract compliance for CWS Local Office employment programs and ensure appropriate progress toward contract goals.
  • Develop partnerships with volunteers, mentors, and community organizations that support refugees' upward mobility.
  • Organize/coordinate CWS classes supporting refugee family self-sufficiency.
  • Advocate on behalf of refugees and refugee-serving voluntary agencies.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 years' experience in refugee resettlement required.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience supervising others is required.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment required.
  • Excellent leadership skills and strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Computer literate, with strong proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word and Access) and internet applications required.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and willingness to support CWS' Platform on Racial Justice as a CWS employee required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in a refugee language preferred but not required.
