About the position
The Employment Specialist at The Arc of Monroe is responsible for providing person-centered support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role emphasizes promoting confidentiality, dignity, and well-being while assisting individuals in leading self-directed lives. The specialist will advocate for justice and community participation, ensuring respect and integrity in all interactions.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to provide person-centered support.
- Promote confidentiality, privacy, human dignity, and emotional well-being.
- Support individuals in leading a self-directed life.
- Assist individuals in developing and maintaining relationships.
- Advocate for justice, fairness, and equity in community participation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or Associate's degree with I/DD experience, or a combination of education and experience.
- Experience providing employment-related and/or vocational assessment services for individuals on the Autism Spectrum or other disabilities that affect communication and learning.
- Valid NYS driver's license required.
- Access to timely and reliable transportation.
