About the position

Join Eaton's Global Financial Services and Systems North America team as an Employment Tax & Compliance Manager, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws related to payroll processing. This position is part of our Americas payroll center of excellence team, which is responsible for managing payroll for over 28,000 employees across the U.S. and Canada, with significant payroll payments totaling $2.1 billion in the U.S. and $100.5 million in Canada. You will have the opportunity to work remotely or from one of our Eaton sites, depending on your location. In this role, you will lead a team of approximately four employees, focusing on their development in payroll compliance and employment tax processing. Your responsibilities will include managing the payroll employment tax process to ensure timely and accurate tax filings and payments across 12-16 legal entities in the U.S. and Canada. You will maintain a deep understanding of relevant tax laws, manage vendor relations, and provide regular updates to Eaton leadership regarding service provider activities and return on investment. Additionally, you will support payroll employment compliance across all states where we operate, analyze and resolve payroll tax issues, and lead change management initiatives while staying current with business changes through seminars and publications. As the employment tax and state compliance expert, you will ensure that Eaton complies with all federal, state, and local requirements in the U.S. and Canada. Achieving compliance will require you to maintain in-depth knowledge of relevant tax laws and policies, ensuring that your team is equally informed and compliant. Your success in this role will be driven by your full knowledge of payroll statutory requirements, proficiency in Microsoft products, and prior experience with payroll systems and U.S. payroll tax compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws related to payroll processing.
  • Lead a team of approximately four employees, fostering their development in payroll compliance and employment tax processing.
  • Manage the payroll employment tax process to ensure timely and accurate tax filings and payments across 12-16 legal entities in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of relevant tax laws and manage vendor relations.
  • Provide regular updates to Eaton leadership on service provider activities and return on investment.
  • Support payroll employment compliance across all states of operation.
  • Analyze and resolve payroll tax issues and improve operational performance metrics.
  • Consult with IRS and state tax agencies and lead change management initiatives.
  • Stay current with business changes through seminars and publications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years of work experience, with at least 3 years working in or with payroll in a multi-state company.
  • Full knowledge of payroll statutory requirements to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products, especially Excel and Word, for efficient payroll management.
  • Prior experience with payroll systems and U.S. payroll tax compliance.
